DownLinens Commits to Using Certified Responsible Down

RDS_banner_590x340Get ready to fall even more in love with DownLinens.

DownLinens is among a group of leading companies in the bedding, fashion, and outdoor industries to have officially adopted Textile Exchange’s Responsible Down Standard (RDS). This means that you can enjoy DownLinens products knowing that the down inside has been ethically sourced from start to finish.

The Responsible Down Standard is a certification for waterfowl-based materials, like down, that verifies that the materials were created using humane practices. RDS ensures that practices like force-feeding and live-plucking do not occur at any point from the bird’s birth up to the moment the product is sold.

This new certification provides the world’s most comprehensive global animal welfare and traceability standard for down and feathers. It was created by the Textile Exchange, Textile Exchange, a global nonprofit dedicated to sustainability in the apparel and textile industry

“DownLinens.com prides itself on using the highest quality down in all of our products,” says Nate Hascalovici of DownLinens, “Part of that is using material that is ethically sourced. Down has been at the forefront of animal rights controversy for many years regarding its sourcing practices. DownLinens has always made a huge effort to source down from locations that treat animals in an ethical way. RDS offers additional third party certification that our ethical sourcing practices are working and absolute.”

DownLinens joins early adopters like The North Face and Eddie Bauer in recognizing RDS standards, as they continue to be leaders within the down industry. “Through our relationship with Allied Feather & Down, DownLinens is able to take part in all new innovations in the down industry first,” says Hascalovici, “As soon as we heard that we could have access to down that was third party certified as ethically sourced, we knew that we had to have it.”

“We feel that the industry is moving toward more ethically sourced down and the customer does want this,” he adds. “We are happy to be at the forefront.” Aside from featuring Textile Exchange’s RDS stamp of approval, you can expect the very same DownLinens products you already know and love. “There will be no noticeable difference, other than the peace of mind of our customers when they sleep at night, knowing that the product was ethically sourced.”
