Make Your Own All Natural Beeswax Candles

Candles and relaxation go together like chocolate and peanut butter, and who doesn’t love to fill their bedroom with the tantalizing scent of scrumptious candle aromas before bedtime? So we agree that candles rule, but did you know that most store bought petroleum-based wax candles can be harmful for your health? According to the American Chemical Society, these types of candles can emit toxins into the air and mmm we don’t want to breathe those in, thank you very much.

Instead, opt for natural beeswax which actually improves the air quality in your home. This happens through a process called negative ionization, in which beeswax produces negative ions when burned. The negative ions attach themselves to positively charges particles in the air, such as bacteria, allergens and viruses. The combined ions become heavier and sink to the floor where they can then be easily removed through vacuuming or sweeping.

Feeling crafty? Cook up some savory, scented beeswax candles all by yourself! Not only will you feel confident about what’s floating around your home since you know what goes into it, but it’s a cinch to create and they make super cute gifts! Watch the tutorial below with step by step DIY instructions, then get down and dirty with some beeswax!
