It’s always important to give your home some TLC, but what about showing the outside some love? Summer is right around the corner, and what better way to enjoy the extra daylight and warmth with a kickass backyard? Here are 6 inexpensive and easy ideas to get your yard looking summer time fresh.

Butterfly Garden
Flower patches aren’t just for kids and grannies anymore. Not only will a flower garden spruce up your yard with color, but it will attract beautiful little butterflies. I mean, who doesn’t want to hang out with butterflies? Research flowers that grow well in your area and visit your local nursery to get ideas. Get creative and add some whimsical stepping stones through the garden or a bath bath.

DIY Whisky Barrel Tables
So easy peasy to make, and cute to boot! You don’t need wads of cash—and better yet, you don’t need to be a carpenter or a pirate to get craftsy with a wooden barrel. Set them up in your patio area as side tables or use them for your next outdoor party. You can find ready to go wooden barrels at Home Depot, and Bed bath and Beyond has cheap, round glass tops.

Outdoor Movie Theater
This is a great option whether you have a family or you want to have friends over for a chill, relaxing summer evening. All you need is a projector and a giant white sheet—if your house has a blank, white wall, that works as well. Next, set up a cozy area in the yard facing the white sheet/wall. Throw some big, fluffy pillows down, add blankets a cooler and snacks, you’ll never watch a movie indoors again!

Add a Fire Pit
You can’t go wrong with a glowing, red hot fire. Gather around with ice cold beers and get those mallows roasting for a long evening of great friends and great conversation. It’s not difficult to find a fire pit, just peruse your local home improvement store. They come in all shapes and sizes at affordable prices. Or, it’s a cinch to make your own!

Table with a Built-In-Ice Box
“Im going in to get a beer, who needs one?” Sound familiar when hanging with your pals outside? No need for that when you have an icebox built into your patio table! It’s simple enough to construct, and will keep your drinks cool and within reach.

Outdoor Shower
All you need is….get ready for it…a hose and shower head! Why shower inside when you can have a waterfall oasis in your very own backyard. Screw a garden hose into a shower head, hoist it up high in a tree or on a post, and cool off during those hot summer days.
